Former Aria Casino Staff Take Legal Action Against Unfair Treatment and Discrimination

A recent lawsuit filed in US District Court has brought attention to a case involving two former employees of the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The two ex-workers, Erendira Dominguez and Allison Lopez, are taking legal action against their old employer, alleging that they were unfairly fired after being accused of stealing millions of dollars. According to the lawsuit, Dominguez and Lopez were full-time staff members at Aria, which is owned by MGM Resorts International.

Dominguez and Lopez, who worked in the casino’s marketing department, claim that they lost their jobs due to false accusations and discrimination. The two women had been with the casino since it opened in 2009 and were responsible for booking hotel rooms for Las Vegas Golf Adventures (LVGA) from 2021 to 2023. They worked under the supervision of senior male executives at the casino.

However, in 2023, a new national marketing VP raised concerns about the legitimacy of Lopez’s bookings, leading the company to accuse Dominguez and Lopez of taking millions of dollars from the LVGA account. The women deny having access to, taking, or moving any money from the account. In August 2023, MGM Resorts suspended both women as part of an internal investigation. Lopez continued to receive her salary during the suspension, while Dominguez did not.

Despite the company’s investigation failing to determine what happened to the missing funds, Dominguez and Lopez were ultimately fired in December 2023. The women argue that their suspension and subsequent termination were unjust and discriminatory, citing that none of the male executives who oversaw their work faced similar consequences. They also allege that racial bias played a significant role in their dismissal, pointing out that as Hispanic women, they were the only ones placed on unpaid suspension during the investigation.

The lawsuit highlights the discrepancies in the treatment of Dominguez and Lopez compared to their male counterparts and seeks justice for what they believe was an unlawful termination. The case sheds light on the complexities of workplace dynamics and the challenges faced by marginalized groups in corporate environments.
