A new integrated resort is on the horizon for the Philippines, with Alliance Global Inc’s Travellers International Hotel Group Inc (TIHGI) spearheading the project. The envisioned Mactan World Resorts is slated to kick off construction in 2025, with an estimated budget of $301 million. Situated on Mactan Island in Lapu-Lapu City, this resort will encompass a hotel, casino, and a host of entertainment offerings.
TIHGI is strategically positioning itself to attract more tourists and strengthen its local presence with the development of Mactan World Resorts. The company, known for operating Newport World Resorts in Metro Manila’s Entertainment City, aims to replicate its success in the bustling hub of Mactan Newtown.
The significance of this endeavor cannot be overstated, especially considering the impact of Newport World Resorts, formerly Resorts World Manila, as the Philippines’ premier integrated resort. With TIHGI’s application for a license to establish and manage the integrated resort casino within Mactan Newtown in 2023, the groundwork for Mactan World Resorts has been set in motion, with an anticipated completion timeframe of 2026.
Industry experts predict that Mactan World Resorts will play a pivotal role in elevating the local economy, with projections indicating a potential $4.3 million in property and business tax revenue within the first five years of operation. This development is not only a testament to TIHGI’s commitment to enhancing the tourist experience but also a testament to the bright future that lies ahead for Mactan Island and Lapu-Lapu City.
