A 20-year-old teaching assistant, Jerusalem Garcia, is facing charges for contacting and attempting to contact a minor for sex. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Garcia reportedly engaged in a physical romantic relationship with an underage boy. The investigation did not uncover physical evidence of a sexual relationship, but Garcia and the boy were seen cuddling and kissing.
It is unclear whether the couple spent time together at hotels or in public spaces. The age of the student was not revealed, but in Nevada, anyone under the age of 18 is considered underage. The boy is believed to be a teenager.
The couple was spotted at the Sam’s Town hotel and casino, leading to Garcia’s arrest. Despite denying a sexual relationship with the student, Garcia admitted to being tempted. A police report detailed the physical nature of the relationship, with Garcia becoming aroused when the boy touched her buttocks.
According to the report, Garcia would have urges to engage in sexual intercourse with the boy but refrained due to his age. Garcia is set to appear in court on September 30 to face the charges. The next stage of the trial is pending.
