US Casinos Weathering Hurricane Francine: Temporary Closures Announced

The recent impact of Category 2 hurricane, Hurricane Francine, has caused several states along the US Gulf Coast to temporarily close their businesses, including casinos in Mississippi and Louisiana.

Hurricane Francine hit Louisiana’s coast with winds reaching 100 mph on Wednesday evening. As the hurricane moved towards Mississippi, it was downgraded to a Tropical Storm with maximum winds of 45 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center.

In response to the extreme weather conditions, the Silver Slipper Casino Hotel in Mississippi announced its temporary closure on Tuesday. The casino stated that its table games, valet, gift shop, and Jubilee Buffet would be closed on September 11. The venue assured guests that normal business operations would resume on Thursday, September 12, and advised everyone to stay safe and monitor for further updates.

Known for its range of slots, table games, and video poker, Silver Slipper Casino also offers various dining options and amenities for entertainment.

Following suit, Coushatta Casino Resort in Mississippi also temporarily closed its doors due to Hurricane Francine. The casino resort notified guests that it would close at 2 AM on Wednesday, September 11, to ensure the safety of guests and associates during the hurricane.

Both casinos are expected to release further updates if necessary and continue to prioritize the safety of their guests and staff during extreme weather conditions on the US Gulf Coast.
